| International Competition for Silo Recycle for EXPO2012 Yeosu Korea | |||||||
| This Expo that represents the
rebirth of a new city is a beginning of the essential industry to enter
a new phase: from "heavy" industries toward high-value-added "light"
industries and from manufacturing industries toward service industries.
Yeosu where beautiful nature remains all around is not only a good location
for industrials but also a potential center for living, various cultural
activity and light industries. The silos will be one of the few historical monuments in the city after the Expo. How change for the silos is required as a monument of the city? The inherent characteristic of silo is strong separation of interior from exterior. The separation of interior and exterior is too out-of-date as an entrance gate for the reborn city. Our intension is to create an open facility in both functional and visual sense, which allows for flexibility of usage and change the look of. Incised silos will be an icon that tells that various virtue in this area accumulated until now is about to spread out to the world. location: Yeosu/Korea principal use: Pavilion site area: 988m2 building area: 165m2 total floor area: 165m2 structure: RC+S |
